Sklárna Květná 1794

00.00  Moravské zemské muzeum

The installation in the space of the Chapel of the Offering of the Virgin Mary in the Palace of Noblewomen is conceived as a meeting with the contemporary design of the Moravian Glassworks Květná, which is now led by the design duo Klára Janypková and Tomáš Kučera. Together, they have already won several awards, such as the International Design Awards, highlighting exceptional creators, studios and brands shaping contemporary interior and product design. The roots of the glassworks date back to 1794, when it was founded by Prince Alois I of Liechtenstein, making it one of the oldest continuously operating Moravian glassworks. It is currently writing a new story about the courage and resilience of glassmakers and designers who continue the tradition and at the same time create new morphology of utility glass, while pointing the way to an aesthetically balanced concept and harmonizing color scales. An example of the connection between history and the present is the innovative set of drinking glasses originally designed by Bohuslav Fuchs, and now redesigned by Klára Janypková. This example also connected the installation to the story of the Noblewomen’s Palace, which was rebuilt in the 1960s based on designs by Bohuslav Fuchs.
