Innenhof: Sugar in the Mouth
The original performance explores women’s experience in the context of Slovak history – between what we remember, what we want to remember and what we were told to remember. Women appear as quiet bearers of memory, storytellers of family myths but also witnesses to great history.
The performance combines storytelling with movement theatre and video art, following the flow of collective and selective memory that is passed from one generation to another like a recipe – or a trauma. What happens when the past repeats itself for so long that we no longer know what has already happened and what is still ahead?
