go touch some grass.

What if caring for the world on a daily basis exists more often as content than as
reality? The go touch some grass project is based on an internet saying
used as a challenge to people who spend too much time online. We take this phrase
literally and translate it from the digital realm into a physical experience.

We are responding to the phenomenon of consumerism surrounding ecological and activist content on
social media, where topics such as our relationship with nature, the environmental crisis, and social engagement often
turn into easily consumable content. Sharing, liking, and following these
posts can create a sense of personal involvement and moral righteousness without
the need to actually do or change anything. We are not interested in criticizing individuals, but in
identifying the mechanism in which caring for the world is replaced by its representation
and the actual experience of nature is supplanted by imagery, aesthetics, and a sense
of participation.

Instead of another comment or image, we offer a simple, slow, and physical
gesture—working with clay, planting a seed, and waiting for the result. Participants are
confronted with the difference between watching and acting, between immediate short-term
satisfaction and long-term care.

The happening was organized by students from the Department of Art and Design at PED MUNI: Jaroslav Mrázek and Martin Sekyra
